Vernon E. Schroeder, age 86 years, of Fayette, passed away Monday afternoon, July 20, 2015, at the Napoleon Lutheran Home. He was born April 2, 1929, at Sherwood, the son of Emil and Lena (Miller) Schroeder, and married Lois Zimmerman on October 12, 1956. A resident of the Archbold area many years before moving to Wauseon and later to Fayette, he worked at Sauder Woodworking for 33 years. He enjoyed woodworking and camping and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Burlington. He is survived by his wife, Lois; three children, Kathy (Tod) Williams of Toledo, Chris (Bettina) Schroeder of Bluffton, and Steve (Gail) Schroeder of Fayette; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lois Rathge and Edith Hayes; and two brothers, Virgil and Larry Schroeder. Services will be held on Friday at 11 AM at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor James C. Strawn officiating. Interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 9-11 AM on Friday at the church. The family suggests that memorials be given to St. James Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
