Trina N.
Kauffman
Mar 3, 1976 — Aug 9, 2017
Trina N. (Kerby) Kauffman, age 41, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 9, 2017 after a courageous battle with leukemia since April 2017. She peacefully passed away at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center surrounded by family.
She was born March 3, 1976 to Linda Kerby of Bryan and Steve Grime of Archbold. She graduated from the West Unity High School where she enjoyed sports, making varsity in volleyball as a freshman. With her congenial smile, she had many friends and loved life.
On October 8, 2002 she married Chad Kauffman in Cancun, Mexico. They enjoyed life together for fifteen years.
Trina accepted Christ as her personal savior in her youth, and was always searching for a deeper relationship with Christ. She had a ready testimony for whoever would listen. One of her deep longings for her family was for their salvation. Chad and Trina attended several churches where Trina used her gifts as secretary, helping in bible school, mission work or helping the needy. In recent years, they made the Pettisville Missionary Church as their home congregation where they were truly blessed.
Trina was a "people" person. She started her career as a secretary for the Bryan Ohio Art Company. From there she worked for several medical professionals and therapist. She was blessed to be called by God as He led her to become a caretaker, transport for those in need, and her latest job at the Shops of Pennycrest.
Trina's most important job was as a homemaker. She enjoyed being a wife and mother, always with a caring heart. God came first, then family. She even endured the big "Kauffman clan" with grace and acceptance, seeming to enjoy their antics. Trina was a very creative person. She loved landscaping, gardening, and flowers. She could turn scraps into magic and loved to paint and decorate.
The family had a Labradoodle named Jake and a rabbit named Pringles. Both comforted Trina as she struggled with leukemia. She loved nature and animals.
She will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors. Her life, as short as it was, will always be an inspiration to all whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her husband Chad, sons Davrin Newcomb of Genoa, and Peyton Kauffman of Archbold. She is also survived by mother Linda Kerby of Bryan and father Steve Grime of Archbold, sister Tanya (Joe) Kutchenriter, brother Carey Kerby of Bryan, and five nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, August 14 at 10:30 am at the Pettisville Missionary Church. Friends may call on Sunday, August 13 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Pettisville Missionary Church. Short Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions will be donated to the family's choice.
