Ruth H. Siegel, 90, of Archbold, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Fairlawn Haven. She had lived in the Cleveland area before returning to her home town of Archbold. Ruth was born May 19, 1924, in Archbold to Arthur and Arvah (Hallett) Siegel. They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, James Siegel and Philip Siegel and one sister, Anna Bernath Pederson and a nephew, Gary Bernath. Miss Siegel graduated from Archbold High School. She earned a B.S. in Education from Bowling Green State University and a M.S. in Education from The Ohio State University. She also did graduate work in Administration at Kent State University. She taught high school in Michigan before moving to the Cleveland area where she taught high school and then became a guidance counselor and later a school administrator. She was a member of Zonta International and held various offices in that organization including president. She also belonged to many professional organizations. Ruth was a member of the Archbold United Methodist Church. Ruth traveled extensively in the United States and to many countries throughout the world. Ruth is survived by nephews, James Siegel of Ft. Myers Beach, FL and Troy, OH, and David Siegel of Columbus, GA, and nieces, Susan Bolman of Angola, IN, and Jann Margeson of Farminton, NM. She is also survived by good friends, Ruth Sivon of St. Louis, MO, and Dottie Orndorff of Delta, OH. Services will be held in the Chapel at Fairlawn Haven on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 3:30 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Archbold Cemetery. Memorials are to the Archbold United Methodist Church.
