Ruby V. Short, age 95 years, of Archbold, passed away early Thursday morning, July 13, 2017, at Fairlawn Haven Care Center in Archbold.  She was born August 26, 1921, at Florida, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Knipp) Austermiller.  She married Lawrence E. Short on February 1, 1941.  A resident of the Archbold area many years, she was a homemaker and a secretary at the former Lugbill Livestock Auction for 25 years, retiring in 1987.  She enjoyed singing, sewing and cooking.  She was a member of Archbold Evangelical Church where she sang in the choir, singing a solo in the Messiah, and taught Sunday School.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Lawrence; three children, Sally Collamore of Columbus, Sidney (Becky) Short of Zanesville and Eric (Barbara) Short of Altadena, CA; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Geoffrey; two brothers, Russell and Lester Austermiller; a sister, Henrietta Rupp; and two infant siblings.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at the Archbold Evangelical Church with her nephew Pastor Ray Matheson officiating.  Interment will precede in the Archbold Cemetery.  Friends may call at Short Funeral Home in Archbold from 3-8 PM on Wednesday. The family suggests that memorials be given to Archbold Foundation or Mennonite Central Committee.
