Richard J. "Dick" Calvert, age 93 years, of Clearwater, FL and formerly of Archbold, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2016, at Largo, FL. He was born January 14, 1923 at Des Moines, IA. He married Arlene Cole and she preceded him in death in 1983. He then married Bette (Clow) Todd and she survives. He lived in Los Angeles, CA, then in Archbold about 40 years before moving to Florida in 2014. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and later made a career in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from the Air Force, he provided guard and security services. He enjoyed golfing, and was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and former member of the Archbold Rotary. He attended St. John's Christian Church in Archbold.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Randy (James) Meeks of North Port, FL, and Candy (Larry) Kinsman of Archbold; three step-children, John (Jody) Todd of Phoenix, AZ, Jackee Todd of Clearwater, FL and Greg (Kathy) Todd of Goshen, IN; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 9 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.

Services will be held on Monday at 11 AM at St. John's Christian Church with Rev. Erich Christman officiating. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery with Military rites by the American Legion B.L.W. Post 311. Friends may call at Short Funeral Home in Archbold from 4 – 8 PM on Sunday with Masonic services at 7:30 PM.
