Michael J. Sullivan, age 73 years, of Archbold, passed away June 29, 2014, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born February 17, 1941, the son of Orlo John and Christine (Lauber) Sullivan. He was blessed with 50 years of marriage to Shirley Rupp beginning on August 17, 1963. He was a graduate of Archbold HIgh School, Adrian College, and Indiana University. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he enjoyed a wonderful, rewarding career in education with the children that touched his heart so deeply. He was a teacher at Elmira and Liberty Center, then coming back to Archbold as the Elementary School Principal for over 20 years before retiring in 1994. He then chose to help with the administration needs of other schools for an additional 10 years, going to Michigan Center, Evergreen, Wauseon, Tinora, and Pettisville, and touching the hearts of children, parents, and co-workers at each. He enjoyed running, traveling, and spending time with family and in the outdoors, leaving many memories of marathons, hiking the Grand Canyon, summer family vacations at the lake, and fishing with the grandkids. He is survived by his wife Shirley, his two children Kristi (Chad) Coopshaw of Fayette, and Bill (Sara) Sullivan of Yarmouth, Maine; four grandchildren, Hailey and MacKenzie Fruchey, Wyatt and Regan Sullivan, and one sister Cathy (Steve) Lombardo of Conover, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Suellen Rupp and Maureen Brodbeck. He was a lifelong member of the Archbold United Methodist Church. Services will be held on Thursday, July 3rd at 11:00am at the Archbold United Methodist Church with Rev. David David officiating. Internment will precede in the Archbold Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 3:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, July 2nd. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be given to the Archbold United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
