Mahlon Curtis
Wyse (Mick)
Dec 30, 1924 — Aug 19, 2018
Mahlon Curtis Wyse (Mick), 93, was welcomed into Heaven, August 19, 2018, in the evening surrounded by his family. He was born to Lydia and Pastor Henry Wyse on December 30, 1924. A man of humble beginnings, he immersed his life in the Christian community, his church, MCC and Transport for Christ. He also served faithfully in CPS in Florida and Ypsilanti Hospital, MI, during WWII.
Born into a family of 10, Mahlon was also blessed with his own large family. He married his love, Valeria Stuckey on December 25, 1951, and raised 7 children with love and patience. Living his whole life in Archbold, Ohio, Mahlon worked hard and long hours farming and driving trucks; but he dedicated his weekends to Church and family. Ball games, cards and chess games, nature and railroad hikes are treasured memories as were summer picnics and making homemade ice cream.
Mahlon was a kind, soft-spoken man who put other's interests before his own. His wonderful legacy will live on through his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Valeria; son, Edward (Marjorie) Wyse; six daughters, Charlinda Huffman, Patricia (Andy) Short, Donna (Brian) Dawes, Debra (Jeff) VanderKooy, Diane (Dean) Callison, and Norma (T.J.) Harais; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Carol (Lloyd) Neuenschwander, Doris Albrecht, and Valetta (Duane) Miller.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ora and Ervin; two sisters, Mary Walburn and Alta Short; and a son-in-law, Lee W. Huffman.
A service celebrating Mahlon's life will be Saturday, August 25, at 11 AM at Lockport Mennonite Church near Stryker, with reception to follow. Visitation will be on Friday, August 24, at Fairlawn Chapel from 4-7 PM. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made out to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). The family wishes to express thanks to all who visited and supported our husband, father and grandfather in his final days. We hope you help us celebrate a man who lived life well, who's now joyous in his forever home. www.ShortFuneralHome.com
