Donn Louis Bernath, age 84, passed away in Maryville, Tennessee on July 18, 2022.

Donn spent his childhood in Archbold, Ohio where he played the trombone, acted in class plays, and developed a lifelong love of learning. The first in his family to attend college, Donn began a four-decade teaching career following his graduation from Ohio University in 1960. As a math and science teacher in Maple Heights, Donn met many dear friends and his wife of forty-five years, Carol (Znidarsic) Bernath.

Together with his family, Donn enjoyed traveling in the American West and cheering for the Cleveland baseball team. A member of the United Methodist Church of Macedonia, Donn's Christian faith and faith community were important to him throughout his life. He often served in support of missions and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Hospice of the Western Reserve.

Donn will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a gifted and engaging educator, and a man of faith. Friends and family valued Donn's good humor, integrity, and his genuine enjoyment in learning about people around him through conversation.

Donn is survived by his wife Carol (nee Znidarsic); daughter Amy (Ian Jobe); granddaughters Angela and Selene; four nephews, two nieces, and their children including niece Julie (Bill) Earnest; great-nieces Megan Foos and Mindy Earnest; and nephew Mike Nofziger (Judy Fish). He was preceded in death by his parents, Selma and Edwin Bernath; and sister Shirley (Don) Nofziger.

A celebration of life will be held at the United Methodist Church of Macedonia on Saturday, September 10 ^th at 11a with family calling beginning at 10a. The family suggests that memorials be given to the United Methodist Church of Macedonia or to Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron, Ohio.
