Obituary

Carrol H. Wolf, 83, of Archbold, died peacefully at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, at 12:34 Thursday morning. He was born in Henry County on July 5, 1930, to Alva and Florence Wolf. He graduated in 1948 from Holgate high school. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and served until 1955, and was a veteran of the Korean War. On July 28, 1951, he married Lu (Hunt) and she survives. Carrol worked at Stotzer Hardware in Archbold for over fifty years and was truly a "Jack of all trades". He took great pride in being called "Mr. Friendly", and to many children in town, he was simply "the man who fixes bicycles". Carrol was a faithful member of Archbold United Methodist Church where he served on many committees and was the head usher for many years. He was also a member of the Lion's Club, the Park Board, Archbold Booster Club, American Legion B.L.W. Post 311, and served as president of The Merchant Association, now known as The Chamber of Commerce. He also served as an election day poll worker for the Republican Party in the 1970's. He was an avid collector of many things, and thoroughly enjoyed sharing them with anyone who would listen. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a great role model for dedication and loyalty for his family, his church and his community, always serving others first. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers in infancy. Carrol is survived by his wife Lu, three daughters, Linda (Lee) Short, of Port Clinton, Judy (Paul) Wyse of Archbold, and Robin (Matt) Kerr of Melbourne, Florida. He leaves nine grandchildren, Heather (Greg) Ravas, Carly (Tom) Ansel, Logan Short, Libby Beck, Kelsy Wyse, Tucker Beck, Kenny Wyse, Hayley Kerr, Clay Kerr and three great grandsons, Ezekiel, Isaac and Gabriel. One sister Donna (Milo) Crockett and several nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be Wednesday December 4, at Short Funeral Home in Archbold, from 4:00-8:00. The funeral will be Thursday December 5, at Archbold United Methodist Church at 1:00. Interment will follow at the Archbold cemetery with military rites by Archbold American Legion B.L.W. Post 311.
